Stephen Covey, used to say “Put First Things First”, meaning what was important to you, you would make sure was on the forefront. Whether it is your relationships, health or retirement, you would make sure they were a priority.

He also said that those things that you spent money on showed where your priorities are. The same can be said for those charities that you donate to, and where your heart is. Be it your religious institution, Scouts, United Way, Almoner’s Funds, or one of many Masonic Charity Funds.

One of the many masonic charity funds that is near and dear to me is the CMMRF. Luckily for those concerned about the CMMRF, there are many ways to donate.

One way I have found that has been successful and easy is the Facebook Fundraising Event. Generally, Facebook contacts you a few weeks before your birthday to see if there is a charity that you would like to support, and they walk you through the process. Every time one of your contacts donates to your charity you are notified, and the amount towards your goal is updated. You might be surprised who donates, it could be family, friends, or a contact that recognizes the importance of the charity that you are fundraising for.

But even better, you don’t have to wait till your birthday; you can set up any event, be it in memorial or in honor of. It could be the anniversary of your year as Thrice Illustrious Master, or my favorite, just because.

Or simply while scrolling through your Facebook feed,
