CMMRF: October is Reagent Month

The CMMRF Board of Trustees met at the Triennial in Minneapolis in August. During the presentation by Dr. Mike Murphy, the lead researcher for CMMRF at the Indiana University Vascular Research Program, spoke about the need to use a piece of equipment. The Codex Analyzer is capable of unlocking unparalleled levels of highly multiplexed tissue imaging data. In order to unlock the true complexity of the tissue microenvironment. The instrument exists in the IU Campus and can be of critical use in stem cell research. The issue is that the reagents need to run the equipment is expensive. After much discussion, the Board voted to initiate a special campaign to raise the $75,000 needed to run the instrument.

October has been designated “Reagent Month” as we will attempt to raise the $75,000 during the month. We are encouraging Grand Councils/Councils to hold fundraisers to collect monies toward our goal. One can designate their donation specifically toward the purchase of reagent by writing “Special Campaign” in the memo portion of their check.

The over all goal for CMMRF is to raise $500,000 by the end of the year. The $75,000 is in addition to this goal, an extra stretch goal. To date, we have raised around $200,000. We still have a long way to go and I encourage each companion to give as liberally as his means will allow.
