On Sunday November 13, 2022 at 12pm MT, the General Grand Council Presents will be Jacob Thompson speaking on Rite V. Rite, or Pike vs. Gouely, The Grand Commandery of Missouri takes on the Scottish Rite. The presentation will be an exploration of the tensions and issues that arose between the Scottish Rite/Supreme Council, S.J. and Masonic Knights Templar of Missouri, that inevitably caused national issues in the 1860s-1870s. About Jacob Thompson

Right Worshipful Brother Jacob W. Thompson is a Past Master of Silex Lodge #75 and currently serves as the Grand Historian of the Grand Lodge of Missouri, as well as the District Deputy Grand Master of the 25th Masonic District.

RW Bro. Thompson has served the Craft and his jurisdiction in several capacities over the years, having been Master at both his home Lodge and Troy Lodge #34. He was honored to have been appointed Grand Orator twice, and to serve on various Grand Lodge committees including as the chairman of the Masonic Education Committee since 2019. In 2020, Brother Thompson was named the recipient of the “Great Communicator” Award by M.W. Bro. Stanton T. Brown, II.

He is an active member of the Ancient & Accepted Scottish Rite, having belonged to the Valley of St. Louis since 2015, and holds the rank and decoration of Knight Commander of the Court of Honor. In St. Louis he serves as the Director of Education, works with various committees and is an Officer in the Rose Croix Chapter. At the Orient level he acted as Ritual Director for the Orient of Missouri’s statewide Virtual Cinematic Reunions held during 2019-2022. In 2018 he was appointed as a Sovereign Grand Commanders Fellow for the A.& A.S.R.,S.J.

RW Bro. Thompson is a noted ritualist and speaker on the Scottish Rite, Craft Lodge symbolism and the exploration of the ritual, as well as masonic history. He is High Priest of St. Charles Missouri Chapter #1, RAM; Illustrious Master of Hiram Council #1, Royal & Select Masters; & Sovereign Master of Edgar Franklin Coonrod Council #493, Allied Masonic Degrees; a Past Commander of Ivanhoe Commandery #8, Knights Templar; as well as Limerick Council #88, Knight Masons, a member of the Bruce Harmon Hunt York Rite College #162, Missouri Lodge of Research, Scottish Rite Research Society and a Fellow of the Grand College of Rites.

Additionally, he serves on the Advisory Board for Daniel Boone Chapter, Order of DeMolay and received the Honorary Legion of Honor from
DeMolay International in 2020. Bro. Thompson’s interest also extend into contemplative masonic practices, and he is proud to be a Facilitator for the Masonic Legacy Society.

Outside of the Craft, Bro. Thompson enjoys a good cigar and bourbon, playing golf, hunting quail, and checking out new breweries and distilleries when & where he finds them while dragging his wife, Megan along for the experience. He currently works as Assistant Vice President/ Loan Officer for a community bank in northeast Missouri. He is an alumnus of the Paul J. Barret Graduate School of Banking in Memphis, TN and Secretary of the Louisiana Chamber of Commerce and remains an active alumnus of the Alpha Gamma Rho Fraternity.
