Grand Council of Indiana

The Grand Council of Indiana held their Annual Ish Sodi Banquet on October 12, 2019 at the Sahara Grotto in Southport, Indiana. The Ish Sodi Banquet is an special event that is hosted by Ish Sodi Council, U.D., and the Grand Council of Indiana, as a fundraiser for the Cryptic Masons Medical Research Foundation (CMMRF). Every year at the banquet, a theme is chosen, entertainment is provided during dinner, a speaker from Indiana Center of Vascular Biology and Medicine (ICVBM) provides an update on the research they are conducting, and a silent auction is held. This exceptional event is well known for providing fellowship, education, and fundraising for CMMRF.

This year\’s event was attended by the officers of the Grand Council of Indiana, Companions, and Several General Grand Council officers. Dr Michael P. Murphy, the Cryptic Masons Medical Research Foundation Professor of Vascular Biology Research, spoke in depth about the research they have been conducting, and the discoveries they have made in the several fields of research; including Peripheral Artirial Disease (PAD), Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm (AAA), Type 1 Diabetes (Juvenile Diabetes) and more.

After dinner and the musical entertainment, the Grand Lounge of The Royal Order of Zanzibar, a fun degree intended to raise money for CMMRF, was opened in due form (or as close to due form as possible) by the Very Eminently Distinguished, Very Most Puissant, General Grand Brewmaster of the General Grand Lounge of the Royal Order of Zanzibar International, Chuck Wood. Several new members and their ladies were inducted into the esteemed Order. During business, several Grand Representatives of the Grand Lounge of the Royal Order of Zanzibar were assigned (or more accurately bought, for in The Royal Order of Zanzibar all titles are bought and paid for) and then The Grand Lounge of The Royal Order of Zanzibar was closed by the Very Eminently Distinguished, Very Most Puissant, General Grand Brewmaster of the General Grand Lounge of the Royal Order of Zanzibar International Chuck Wood.

The winning bids for the silent auction were announced. The many articles up for auction included several gift baskets, wine, jewelry, scotch, and the ever-popular proctology exam. All of which, raised a significant amount of money for CMMRF.

All in all, the annual Ish Sodi Banquet was successful in raising nearly $7000 for this very worthy cause. A good time was had by all (except possibly MIPGM John FN Bridegroom, the recipient of the Proctology exam). The upcoming Ish Sodi Banquet (Havana Nights) will be held October 3, 2020 at the Sahara Grotto in Indianapolis, Indiana at 6pm EST. We invite all to come and enjoy the spectacular event.
