From the Deputy General Grand Master

I’ve just returned from my trip to Indianapolis where we had the Annual Cryptic Mason Medical Research Foundation Board of Trustees meeting. This year we had the pleasure of being hosted by our partners at Indiana University school of Medicine and enjoyed several presentations on the state of the Programs that CMMRF helps support with your donations. I don’t want to steal any of Companion Gary Wyne’s thunder so I’ll just leave you with it was a very informative and enjoyable trip.
Last week, MP Grindle mentioned that the General Grand Council is investigating the concept of implementing the Provincial system of interaction for the General Grand Council. We’re sure this created much conversation and that’s a good thing. We’d surely like to hear your thoughts. Over the next couple of weeks you should be receiving more information, here in the weekly decryption, about the concept so stay tuned.
The idea of forming provinces came up during a brainstorming meeting where we were looking for ways to improve communication and participation in geographical areas larger than our current regional areas. This concept is to promote a higher level of interaction between the regions and the General Grand Council while reducing the time and costs of several trips a year to the same geographical areas.
Reducing travel costs is an area we are working to find as much savings as we can. With the increasing costs of travel it becomes more important that we look for ways to reduce those costs while maintaining a high level of interaction with our constituent Grand Councils and Councils. Our hope is that the Provincial system will provide that opportunity.
There is still much consider and design before we can start testing this concept out. If you have any thoughts concerning this please feel free to send us an email via the Website. We’d truly appreciate your input.
My next trip will be to the Land of the Rising Sun, Japan, where I will have the Honor to represent the General Grand Council at a joint Chapter/Council Festival with Councils of Tokyo and Taipei, Taiwan. This is the first time such a joint degree is taking place to the best of my knowledge and will be a festival to remember. Stay tuned next month for pictures of the event.
Aloha, a hui ho,
