Passing of MIC John J. Petrik, 1925-2022

It is with great sympathy and sadness that I must report the passing of Most Excellent and Most Illustrious Companion and Sir Knight John J. Petrik.  Most Excellent and Most Illustrious Companion & Sir Knight Petrik served the Grand York Rite as the Grand High Priest of the Grand Chapter of Royal Arch Masons of Oklahoma in 1985-1986 and as the Grand Illustrious Master of the Grand Council of Cryptic Masons of Oklahoma in 1991-1992.

Obituary of John J. Petrik
John J. Petrik was born on December 14, 1925 on a family farm northwest of Renfrow, Oklahoma to John Petrik and Bessie Katheryn Jindra Petrik and passed from this life on January 25, 2022 in Enid.  John married Anna Mae Carter in Caldwell, Kansas on March 31, 1948, they were married 65 years.  John served in the U.S. Army from September 25, 1944 until November 27, 1946 and attained the rank of Sergeant. John was awarded the following medals of honor: Purple Heart, Bronze Star, and Combat Infantryman Badge.  He was a member of the Medford United Methodist Church. 

John was members of multiple Masonic organizations and held many positions.  These include Blue Lodge of Medford #84, Holy Royal Arch Knight Templar Priests (Most Excellent Grand High Priest), Oklahoma York Rite College #75, Scottish Rite Freemasonry 32nd Degree Honor, Akdar Shriner, Tulsa, Olivet Chapter #25, Bernard Council #43, Most Illustrious Grand Master of the Grand Council of Oklahoma, member of Commandrey, Red Cross of Constantine, Eastern Star Worthy Patron for 17 years, Rainbow Dad for many years, and Advisory Board Grand Cross of Color.  He was also a part of other organizations which include Grant County Fair Board for 25 years, District 21 School Board for 13 years, Advisor for Medford 4-H and FFA club, President for Medford Lions Club, and Secretary Renfrow Telephone Company.

John is preceded in death by his wife, Anna Mae Petrik; father, John Petrik; mother, Bessie Katheryn Petrik; sister, Evelyn Rose Truhlar.

Survivors include his son, David Petrik and wife, Janis; three daughters, JoAnne Petrik and husband, Dan McClellan, Jenny Sue Davis and husband, Terry, Kay Petrik and husband, Tim Stoltze; grandchildren, Lucretia Nesbitt and husband, Justin, Ashley Hibbets and husband, Scott, Crystal Foreman and husband, Jack, Shelby Kaminski and husband, Terry, Mistie Fain, Brandon Davis and wife, Tammy, Tiffiany Jones and husband, Michael, and Kyle Arter; great grandchildren, Brianna and Garrett Nesbitt, Hudson and Alivia Hibbets, Nathan Thompson, Capri Fain, Lauren and Alyssa Kaminski, Christopher and Mia Davis, Hailie Carson, and Timmy and Paizlee Arter; great-great grandchild, Camden Carson.

Funeral service for John was held on Monday, January 31, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at Medford United Methodist Church.  Burial was at the Rosemound Cemetery east of Medford with arrangements by Lanman Funeral Home, Inc. of Medford. 

Memorials may be given to the church through the funeral home.
