Planning to help CMMRF in Retirement Years

Many of our faithful York Rite Masons have asked about ways to help support Cryptic Masons Medical Research Foundation CMMRF). CMMRF is the sponsored charity of the Cryptic Rite.

Some of you have asked about Required Minimum Distributions. For your benefit, we have asked the Investment Managers for CMMRF, Oppenheimer & Co., to provide you with a copy of advice that is provided to their clients about RMDs.

If you want to avoid or minimize the taxable effect of a prospective required minimum distribution from your traditional IRA, Roth IRA, inactive SEP IRA, or beneficiary IRA, you can direct all or part of the distribution as a donation to the CMMRF. The easiest way to do this is to take the information provided by Oppenheimer to your IRA manager or investment broker and ask for assistance in making this form of charitable donation.

Of course, you should consult with your tax attorney or estate planning attorney and investment advisors before determining the amount that you want to donate.
