In the original highland kilt, the fly plaid was simply the end of a long piece of tartan worn over the shoulder. This modern interpretation is no less impressive.
Worn over the shoulder and held in place by the Plaid Brooch, the fly plaid is an impressive accessory. It should be worn for fully formal events likeweddings, clan gatherings and graduations. This length of fabric should be the same tartan as the matching kilt to create an authentic highland look.
NOTE: Fly Plaid Image currently shows Masonic Universal tartan, to give the feel of a Blue/Purple tartan. The swatch image is the registered General Grand Council tartan.
